The story

Josefin Winther wrote her first song when she was only thirteen. At the time she was experiencing her first crush, and the possibility to express her feelings through music made Josefin a song writing-addict. Her emotional life was a rollercoaster ride and the outcome was countless new songs in her mid-teens. She recorded her first demo at the age of sixteen. When she returned to Bergen and played the demo for her classmates, one of the boys approached her immediately. "We are forming a band!", he said. Two weeks later Winther and her new band were playing as support act for Norwegian grammy-winner Sissy Wish. On this very night Josefin decided to fully

dedicate her self to music. Since then she played over a hundred concerts, she won the talent shows and become a renown and experienced artist on the stages of Bergen Rock City.

At the age of nineteen, she signed a record deal with star producer Geir Luedy's company, Your Favourite Music. August 2006 she released her first EP. The critics liked the EP, and characterized it as promising. But neither critics nor crowd were fully pleased. The energetic rock artist people associated with her live performances was nowhere on the EP to be heard. Josefin kept playing and working, and became repute for her great consume of musicians.

In the following year Josefin Winther actually recorded two full albums in Luedy's studio. But a record was never released. When we entered 2008 Winther and Luedy assessed their co-operation, and found that changes were due to be made. They decided to split, but Josefin refused to let go of her dream. She bumped into an old friend from Luedy's studio, Kristian Fanavoll Tvedt. At the time Tvedt was working with metal artists from Immortal, Sahg, Gorgoroth and Audrey Horn. Despite this, Josefin and Kristian had a strong mutual understanding of how Josefin Winther should sound. The songs and the musicians were as ready as could be. Winther and her producer spent their spring 2008 in the studio and by summer 11 tracks, including a hidden track, had been recorded, mixed and mastered. Josefin Winthers debut album Be Proud Or Stay Out Of It was finally ready.

Even though Winther was no longer signed to Your Favourite Music, Luedy had great belief in her. He offered to help her release the album, and Your Favourite Music was yet again her official label. Sonet was responsible for distribution. They released the single Big on the Lost Weekend festival in

August, and the 22nd of September 2008 Be Proud Or Stay Out Of It was finally released. The album got very good critics from media in Norway.
