Josefin Winther har siden sin debut i 2006 høstet stor anerkjennelse for sine liveopptredener. Allerede som 19-åring fikk hun platekontrakt og ga ut EP samme år. Winther har siden den gang gitt ut fem studioalbum, høstet strålende kritikker og gjort suksess som låtskriver, blant annet med Norges vinnerlåt i MGP 2014. Høsten 2019 debuterte hun med sitt første norskspråklige album, turnerte i Canada og Norge og fikk overveldende publikumsrespons på sine liveopptredener.
Hun er kjent for sin gripende tilstedeværelse og kraft på scenen, hvor hun kan fange et hvert rom alene med gitaren. Signaturen er intense liveopptredener, hvor hun rett som det er deler fra sine tanker og følelser. Dette gjør hun like gjerne med et smil om munnen som med en tåre i øyekroken.
Den norskspråklige debuten [Uendelig lys. Uendelig mørke.] ble løftet frem som et kunstnerisk vendepunkt for henne. Anmeldere trakk frem både musikkvideoen til tittelsporet og albumet i sin helhet, og det høstet femmere hos flere anmeldere.
I 2020 følger hun opp med en norskspråklig EP, og med to ferske utgivelser i bagasjen kommer hun til å turnere med et akustisk soloformat både i Norge og Canada, I tillegg blir det utstrakt konsertvirksomhet i et storslagent, men nærgående bandformat på norske festivaler og utvalgte konsertscener.
Josefin Winther
Josefin Winther is a Norwegian artist and songwriter born and raised in Bergen. She has released four critically acclaimed albums, and played hundreds of shows in Northern Europe. The critics have compared her music to the likes of PJ Harvey and Patti Smith.
June 2014 she released her first single in two years, "Last Amends", that was produced by Mick Harvey. The song and music video received critical acclaim.
April 2015 she released her third studio album, recorded in Duper Studio in Bergen, produced by legendary producer Yngve Sætre. The album peaked at number 1 on Norwegian sales charts, and was critically acclaimed. The single "Flowers" was playlisted on Norwegian radio.
Autumn 2017 she released "Righteously wrong", which was named her best album yet by critics. The song "Joke" was called out to be one of the best Norwegian songs in 2017. Spring 2018 she released her new single "Moving forward" collaborating with label "Apollon records" on re-releasing her latest album.
October 2019 she made her debut in her native tongue, releasing the "[Uendelig lys. Uendelig mørke.]" This album is also her first as producer. Both the album and the video has received critical acclaim
Her songs have been playlisted on Norwegian national radio channels, and she has participated in several popular TV shows. She has also made her mark as a songwriter for other artists on Eurovision. In 2014 "Silent Storm" performed by her cousin Carl Espen won the Norwegian final, and came 8th in the international Eurovision final.
Winther plays both as a solo act and with musicians, and is featured on events in Norway and Europe continuosly. Stay tuned!
